How to Follow Up After You Have Taught a Class

How to Follow Up After You Have Taught a ClassPeople have different reasons for wanting to pursue a career in private tutoring, one of the biggest is the desire to make some extra money by tutoring. This can be achieved by teaching others or by tutoring yourself. If you find the job interesting, there are a few tips on how to follow up your regular classes to get the best results.First, make sure you schedule a standard appointment with the tutor at the beginning of each class. This will enable them to decide if they need to make changes to your lesson plan for your next class. This may mean that they need to rearrange your schedule to accommodate your tutoring sessions.Second, when you do give them the assignment for your class, take the time to go over it carefully and report progress immediately. It is not acceptable to say 'teacher wants me to teach this,' but rather you should state that you would like to teach the topic discussed in class and that you will deliver the lesson. T his will assure them that you have a good command of the subject matter and will deliver quality instruction. Don't lie about it and when you get the assignment, write a detailed report detailing your progress in each lesson.Third, when you follow up with your tutor, make sure you include the information you gathered from your class. You should bring an overview of the lecture and then a short report on the material covered. You should also show the class a variety of resources, including your notes, books, videos, etc. This will make them more comfortable that you are taking care of their needs.Fourth, if you are already doing private tutoring, send out a list of questions to them. This is something that you can do at the end of your lesson and if you use a good resource, you can always email this back to them at the end of the day. If you get the assignments, give them a time frame to respond, don't assume that they are in the same city as you, but rather they should have at least a couple of days before you begin to follow up again.Fifth, make sure you follow up on each assignment, preferably twice. If they require you to fill out another form, then you should follow up on this every week until you have given them all of the required information. This way you will ensure that you are not missing any important deadlines and will not lose anyone's time as you go through the paperwork. Remember, you want them to be happy with the results of your tutoring. The final point to remember is to be honest with yourself. It is very easy to say 'I am doing private tutoring' and then not deliver what you promise, this is not what a professional private tutor should be dealing with. Make sure that you put in the effort to make a good impression and keep the promise that you made, you will be glad you did.
